Jargon Defined: SaaS – Software as a Service

I love to hate acronyms, especially the ones that spread across industries and mean vastly different things. Some acronyms at least are so long that they are universally understood. SaaS might be one of those.

Software as a service, or SaaS, is a software licensing and delivery model in which software is licensed on a subscription basis and is centrally hosted. It is sometimes referred to as “on-demand software”.

Examples are: Salesforce, Adobe CC, LinkedIn, Athena Health.
